Pottawattamie County Roads Operations Center

The Prairie Construction team recently completed a project for the Pottawattamie County Roads Operations Center.

The project involved the construction of a vehicle maintenance building with office space, located at 101 Ingenium Way in Council Bluffs. As part of the Pottawattamie County Secondary Roads Department, the new building is located just north of the Council Bluffs Airport.

The maintenance building is 22,300 sq feet, and the office building is approximately 7,200 sq feet. We collaborated with HGM Associates Inc. from Council Bluffs on the design of the buildings.

The new maintenance building resulted in the consolidation of five existing spaces into three, more efficient and adequate spaces.

Bennington Elementary School

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released official numbers from the 2020 census, and Nebraska experienced a 7.4% increase in population growth in the last decade. Nebraska’s population growth ranked 20th in all 50 states.

With population growth comes families and children, and with more children comes the increased need for more schools.

Prairie Construction can attest to this population growth. In the last decade, we have been busy building new schools – elementary, middle and high schools – across the metro area. We’ve done recent projects for the Elkhorn,  District 66, and Papillion/LaVista school districts, and most recently we have been busy with the newest elementary school in Bennington.

The elementary school is located at 168th and Military Ave. and will be a K-5 school with a capacity of 480-520 students. Our deep experience with school projects has helped us navigate the stages of this project and remain on schedule.

Prairie Construction is prepared to help business expand and school districts accommodate the continued population growth in Nebraska!

Commercial Renovation vs. Construction

Whether your business is just starting out or outgrowing your current space, the decision about the right office space can be hard. Should we renovate an existing space or build a brand-new site?

When it comes to choosing a new space for your business, there are many things to consider, not the least of which is budget. Renovating an existing space can often cost less than a new build, but there are several factors to consider:

  • Can you find an existing space to meet your needs? Consider how much space you need now and for potential growth in the future. Do you need cubicles or offices, or a shared conference space, etc.?
  • Consider long-term renovations and upkeep. An existing building may require more significant updates over time than a new building, and those expenses may outweigh the upfront savings. You could have a pest issue, for instance, and you might explore a few michigan exterminators (or in some other location) to hire one for pest control. Whereas, a newly constructed building can be treated while construction to avoid such issues in the future.
  • What is your timeframe? A rehabilitation will often take less time than new construction, especially if the previous structure needs to be demolished. For instance, it would probably take less time to complete a renovation or place a new roof on your new office with the help of commercial roofing companies in Denver or elsewhere than to create a brand-new structure. If you need to move in before the building is finished, think about when you need to be in the new workplace.
  • What are your design preferences? Starting from scratch with a new building gives you a blank slate to choose the design elements you want. This may be limited in a renovation.
  • Energy-saving options. Construction from the ground up allows you to choose some energy efficient elements that may not be an option with a renovation project, and those can save you money in the long run. However, before embarking on the journey of constructing a building, you would need to find a commercial builder who has a good reputation in building offices. Besides this, you would also need to hire the services of construction site security guards TX who can provide impeccable security to the site so that no one can interrupt the construction process.
  • Location, location, location! if location is a crucial factor for your business, available options may be the deciding factor in whether you decide to you build or renovate.

Prairie Construction is experienced in renovations and new builds of all sizes. We are committed to completing projects that meet our client’s needs on time and within budget. Whether you decide to renovate an existing space or build a new space, Prairie Construction can help create the perfect office space for your business!

What Our Clients Are Saying

We have shared some details about the Better Homes & Gardens office we completed in Papillion. We were excited to be part of this rapidly growing real estate company in the Omaha metro area!

Tom and Jennifer Simmons of Better Homes & Gardens have been keeping busy in the Sarpy County office since it opened, but we recently caught up with Jennifer and she shared her thoughts about working with Prairie Construction on the construction of their office:

“Steve and his team at Prairie Construction were wonderful to work with. Steve was always responsive, no matter what time of day it is, and we really appreciated that. He and his team, particularly Ken, the project supervisor, were professional and easy to work with throughout the project.
From start to finish, the Prairie Construction team finished our Sarpy County office in 10 weeks. We were amazed! Tom was particularly pleased that the project finished not only on time, but on budget as well.
The Prairie Construction team is top-rate. We were referred to them from a professional contact and we could not have been more pleased with the entire process and the finished project. We would recommend Prairie Construction to anyone looking for a quality construction company in the Omaha metro area.”

City of Gretna Public Works Facility

We are so excited for Spring weather, and to get started on some brand-new projects! One of those is the new Public Works Facility for the City of Gretna!

Construction on the 38,000 square-foot building will begin next month and we expect to complete the facility in April 2019. The building will sit on 8 acres of land located at 20090 Husker Drive, north of the Gretna water tower and fire station.

The building will allow for consolidation of the Public Works vehicles, equipment and materials in one facility. Vehicle storage and a wash bay, are included in the drive-through design, as well as material storage and office space, training rooms and a breakroom. The building design includes the ability to expand in the future.

We are excited to contribute to the continued growth and expansion in the Gretna community! Check back for more updates on this – and many other projects we are busy with – in the coming weeks!
